The Dutch-American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) gives US citizens a path to Dutch residency by starting a business in the Netherlands. Instead of a points system or employer sponsorship, you register a business and invest 4,500 euros in a Dutch business account.
US citizens who register a business with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and maintain the 4,500 euro capital requirement. There is no Dutch language requirement, no degree requirement, and no minimum revenue to qualify.
Most clients plan around three to four months from first conversation to residence permit, including preparation and the IND decision period. You can typically wait for the decision in the Netherlands after filing.
